[Steve woke before the soldiers could continue to taunt him. He sighed, running a hand through his hair after a moment.]

Definitely don't miss those days... [Definitely not. But it wasn't until he mumbled this that he noticed that the Dreamberry on his bedside table was on.

Whoops.]

...Guess the secret's out, huh?

I took him to a bar. [She smiles fondly at the memory.] Don't worry, Steve. I can handle myself around a man like Howard.

Good things of course. But also things that are supposed to be top secret. I won't tell anyone.

If you say so. [He's too much of a derp to guess where anything could have gone after the bar, so this isn't getting awkward as it would have otherwise.]

Told you top secret stuff, huh? [A soft sigh. Why was he not surprised? But, really, did those rules even apply here?]

I like him. [Maybe Steve would hear about it someday. Perhaps from Howard.]

Something about a super soldier project.

[....Nope. Nope, he can live without ever finding out.] He's not bad, don't get me wrong. He just cares more about his work than relationships. I'd hate for you to get hurt.

Figured as much. Not much else that interesting to tell about me.

[Perhaps that would be better.] I never said that I was looking for a relationship with him. Besides, it's very difficult for people to hurt me so don't worry, Steve.

[..And now you see his fail with talking to women. Just. Spazzing a little now.] I didn't mean-- What I meant was... See, not trying to say-- [A pause, and a sigh.] You might not, but he will. For the night. Or...something.

[That didn't...come out right. Somehow. Whoops.]

Not really. Just a regular guy from Brooklyn. Grew up and joined the army, just like everyone else. [Then he became a super soldier and saved the world, but nah, that's nothing extraordinary or anything, nope.]

You haven't spoken to many women before, have you? [She's a bit bemused by his reply and how flustered he seemed.] I enjoy his company. Let's just leave it at that.

Why do I get the feeling that you're not telling me the full story? For one thing, I'd love to know how you got involved in an all-singing stage show.

[Awkward laugh is a go.] Told you that before.

[Maybe a soft sigh, but...well, she already knew about the super soldier serum. What could it hurt to tell her rest of it?] You really wanna know?

After I got the serum, Dr. Erskine, the doctor that created, it was killed. I chased after the murderer, but he killed himself once I caught him. Ended up in the papers and everything. Colonel Philips, the guy in charge of the division running the experiment, wanted to make me a lab rat, so...when Senator Brant offered me a different job, I took it. Just...didn't know it included wearing tights.

That is quite the tale, Steve. Sounds almost impossible to be true but I guess you wouldn't lie to me about it. I don't think that I would want to be somebody's lab rat so I can't blame you for wanting to do something different. Even if it meant wearing such a flashy outfit.

And that's just what happened to get me on stage. [Because really, so much more wild and crazy things happened after he took on the name Captain America, he didn't even know where to begin.]

Like I said, didn't know the tights came with the job. They surprised me on that one. But....guess, over all, it was better than being an experiment.

Much, much better. [She agreed.] How do you feel about being here and not at home? I remember you telling me what happened back there before you arrived to this world.

I, uh-- actually learned that... Well, I didn't...die. Turns out I'm found, just.... not for seventy years.

[There's a bit of a sigh at this. One would think this would be good news, right? But nope, it just makes things more complicated.] So, I mean, yeah, I'm glad I am alive. But everything...everyone I cared about back home...they probably won't even be around anymore. And...

My girl's here. She got here 'bout the same time as Howard. I...I actually can be with her here. If I go home....I'll probably never see her again.

Really? [She sounds surprised by that, blinking a little.] The only way you could survive that long was if you were frozen or something like that.

They'd be gone. [Bela is just going to be blunt about it.] I understand why you feel the way you do, but I'd prefer to be in your position and not the ones left behind. [Survival instincts..she has them.]

This girl. Her name wouldn't happen to be Peggy Carter, would it? Howard mentioned that name to me before. [She's not the type to get sentimental about anything.]

See, I was frozen. Had to crash land a plane in the middle of the arctic. [It still baffles him, but it's what Thor told him.

He just nods.] Exactly. [A pause.] If I had my way, there wouldn't be either position. They'd find me and there wouldn't be a problem. But...guess that's not really an option, huh?

Y..yeah? Peggy. That's her. [Why is he not surprised Howard mentioned her....]

Huh. [It didn't seem possible to her but then Bela has seen a lot of strange things so..] It was a stroke of luck that you were found.

No, it's not an option. There isn't much that you can do about it either now. [A beat.] Unless you had a time machine.

He told me that I reminded him a little of her. [There's a slight smile.] Should he not have mentioned her?

It was, but...it did take seventy years.

[He gives a small smirk.] Don't happen to have one of those lying around, do you?

No, no-- it's fine. Just..curious. What all did he say about her? [He's nosy okay? And also, he's aware of Howard's flirting with her. ~~Not jealous nope.~~] You kinda do, actually. You two would probably get along great.

There was probably a reason for it.

[There's a slight smile.] Can't say that I do. But maybe someone here does, you never know.

All good things. That she's strong, independent, doesn't back down from a fight. Oh, and apparently she'd shoot you if you pissed her off.

[Maybe they would get along.] You think? I would have to meet her in person of course.

Probably.

Yeah, maybe. Wouldn't be surprised. Too bad that wouldn't do me any good back home, though.

[He's gotta chuckle.] Yep, that's her. Even the shooting thing. Found that out the hard way. [Pauses, but there's a grin in his voice.] Either that, or you won't get along well at all.

You seem to have everything you need here. I wouldn't worry about wanting to go home. [By everything she means Peggy and a chance to be with her. Not that Bela is sentimental or anything.]

I think you'll be alright in this place.

Oh, really? [She smirks a little.] You must have annoyed her somehow. [Whatever could it be though?] Well, only one way to find out. I have to meet her.

I...know. I'm not in any rush, trust me. [Well, he's pretty sentimental. As long as he could be with Peggy here, he didn't care to leave. Especially since he'd just go back to when he left.]

Think so too. This place could use my help, anyways.

See, I didn't-- It wasn't, I mean...[Just. Sighs.] It wasn't my fault? But I guess she blamed me anyways. [Rubbing the back of his head.] Yeah, you'll definitely have to.

Then think nothing more of it. [Being sentimental achieved nothing for Bela. She was practical and that served her better. Letting someone in only made you weak or at least, she didn't want people to see her more vulnerable side.]

You want to be a hero here too? [Not really her style.]

Well, you've got a lot to learn about women, Steve. Just letting you know. [Perhaps a tiny bit amused by this.] Right. Seems that its settled.

I won't. Or, I'll try not to, anyways. [Then that's one big difference between her and Peggy. Peggy wasn't afraid to let him in, now that they didn't have being colleagues to worry about.

Okay, you're going to embarrass him.] No, not-- I just. I wanna help people. I can help people. And not everyone here can defend themselves. Someone's gotta do something.

Yeah, I know. That's what everyone keeps telling me. [Loooong sigh.] Seems like it. You'll have to come over some time. Apartment's pretty crowded, but it's fun. Peggy's an amazing cook.

That's pretty selfless, wanting to help people. Putting them before yourself. I don't know how anyone can do that. [She knows that she couldn't do it herself. It was all about looking out for number one.] And still be so modest.

[Bela realised that he wasn't in it for the glory or praise. He just wanted to help.]

You will. Eventually. [She's not exactly being helpful right now.] Oh, well, that's nice. You sure? I hardly know you. [Awkward right now.]

[...Yup, he's getting embarrassed. Shifting a bit.] I was...I was given a chance to do some good in the world. What kind of person would I be if I just sat around and watched everyone get hurt when I knew I could prevent it from happening?

Hope so. It'd do me a whole lot of good. [Not really...] What would joining us for dinner hurt? Besides, you said you already know Howard. [He fails at sensing any awkward...]

A person who would probably get in less trouble. [She remarked wryly.] I know a couple of people like you back home. Fighting the good fight and all that. Not really my kind of thing.

It wouldn't hurt..I'm just not used to being invited to dinner is all. Yeah, I do know him. [Oh so very well too.] Alright, I'll come over one night.
